Donors Forum of Chicago

The Donors Forum of Chicago is looking for a motivated individual who is ready to engage with the nonprofit and philanthropic sector in Chicago and throughout Illinois. This position will offer exposure to the wide range of foundations and nonprofits in Illinois, and be a great starting point for anyone interested in pursuing a nonprofit career in or around Chicago. The position will begin in April as a part-time opening and will become full-time in the summer.

Essential Job Duties and Anticipated Outcomes:

1. Assist with planning for nonprofit state budget briefings in and outside Chicago, including planning the agendas, scheduling speakers and working with partner organizations.

2. Assist with the development of trainings and briefings around advocacy skills and policy issues for nonprofits, foundations and others.

3. Draft content for Donors Forum public policy web page and e-mail Policy Update to engage nonprofits, funders and others on policy developments and actions affecting the nonprofit community.

4. Work with other nonprofits organizations, foundations and associations throughout the state to advance Donors Forum policy and training goals.

5. Assist Donors Forum in maintaining relationships with targeted elected officials, their representatives and staff.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Measures:

All assignments including meeting planning and other public policy related activities are successfully completed with minimal errors, on deadline, and in accordance with organizational and service unit goals.

Maintains a professional, cooperative and friendly work attitude with an emphasis on service, cooperation and teamwork.


Position Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree or current enrollment.

Educational background in public policy, public affairs or social science preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, maintain deadlines and ensure quality of work.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills.
