UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR, NATIONAL PARK SERVICE POSITION, TITLE AND GRADE: Biological Technician (Travel Crew),

GS-0404-04/05

SALARY: $12.36+ per hour/ Summer Seasonal

LOCATION: Great Lakes Exotic Plant Management Team, Great LakesNetwork

Office, 2800 Lakeshore Drive East, Ashland, Wisconsin

The employee performs exotic plant control through the use of herbicides and manual tools. He/she is expected to collect data using a GPS unit and must be able to identify exotic plants and native plants in the field.

The employee may be called on to handle details regarding vehicle care, storage and use of herbicides, maintenance and use of spray equipment and hand tools, and documentation of fieldwork.

The duties of this position require good physical condition, a valid driver’s license, and federal background check. Travel throughout the western Great Lakes region is extensive, with extended periods of duty occurring in parks within the region. Tour of duty is expected to begin mid-April, continuing through mid-September.
