Wildlife Biologist
Full-time Position
Salary Range: $43,113 - $53,569 - $64,023
Location: Grayslake, IL.

Responsible for wildlife management and habitat restoration on forest preserve lands, using a well-developed knowledge of Midwest natural communities and natural history, and wildlife ecological principles. Acts as project manager for the District’s deer management program and other wildlife and habitat restoration projects including responding to the public regarding nuisance wildlife, wildlife survey work, coordination for endangered and threatened species recovery programs, procuring and managing grants, and assessments of forest preserve holdings.
EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Ecology or related field. Two years wildlife management experience in an urban setting and proficiency in the preparation and implementation of wildlife management and habitat restoration programs. Experience with urban deer ecology, small mammal ecology and technical wildlife management skills including wildlife surveys, data collection, analysis and implementation of restoration and management activities. A knowledge of invertebrate identification and ecology and ecology of aquatic habitats is desired. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must possess valid driver’s license.
