The Department of Planning & Development is seeking an intern with experience in Urban Planning or a current Graduate student in Urban Planning and Policy to assist with a variety of projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a student in good academic standing enrolled in an accredited college or university offering an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree program or a student in good standing enrolled in an accredited business or data processing/information technology school. Work hours are flexible to meet the needs of the students and the department.
Residency Requirement: An applicant must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago. Proof of residency will be required at the time of application.
Duties: Assisting staff in the Central Region Division with processes involved in the completion of major downtown redevelopment projects, including accompanying staff to meetings with Aldermen, Developers, and other city meetings.
Developing and maintaining a system by which to share information about proposed projects with local elected officials, other departmental agencies, community groups and the general public.
Developing a new system to manage the Central Region's corporate expansion and relocating projects, including updating and managing a database of available properties and businesses looking for space, preparing an intake process for companies looking for assistance, and assisting in the development of a departmental policy for determining level of financial assistance for corporate relocation/expansion.
Creating a system for managing the phased completion of multi-year projects.
Salary: Freshman's $7.50
