Chicago Department of Environment - Student Intern
The City of Chicago’s Department of Environment seeks an environmental policy research intern. This position will support the development of environmental policy for the City Chicago which has been nationally recognized as a leader in innovative municipal environmental policy. The position will conduct research on best practice environmental policy both nationally and internationally and propose the development of City policy based on this research. In addition the position will assist in the drafting of responses to other infrastructure Departments seeking assistance in the development of environmental strategies and policies.
Requirements:
Must be a student in good standing enrolled in an accredited college or university offering an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree program OR a student in good standing enrolled in an accredited business or data processing/information technology school.
Desirable Requirements:
Applicant must be an enrolled in a masters program in urban studies or urban planning, architecture, public policy, environmental policy/studies, economics (environmental focus), or engineering. Highly qualified undergraduates may be considered as well.
Other requirements include:
Written communication skills (sufficient to write research reports and policy recommendation documents.) Oral communication skills. (sufficient to conduct phone research with sister agencies, other municipalities, and professionals in the environmental field. ) Interest in environmental or public policy issues as evidenced by course work or extracurricular activities.
Availability:
The Department of Environment seeks applicants interested in either full or part time employment.
Pay:
$10-$13 per hour commensurate with experience.
